Bucknell Wood, Shropshire - Just over 13 acres, £75,000

Bucknell Wood

Bucknell Wood is set on the side of Bucknell Hill with beautiful views over Shropshire and Herefordshire valleys. As you come into the woodland, immediately past the second wooden gate the south western boundary can be found on the right of the track. The track travels the entire length of Bucknell Wood and forms the western boundary. Part way up the track there is a wooden gate and another track that leads to a very private and secluded level clearing which could be used as a 'base' for forestry activities.

From the clearing there is a steady climb to the top of the wood where the woodland opens out onto flat open grass land which amounts to approximately 3.5 acres. From here there are far reaching views across the local hills and valleys that are designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) .

There could be an opportunity to use this area for various livestock or introducing and planting new tree species to further diversify the woodland.

Some of the tree species that are already growing here include walnut, oak, ash, hazel, rowan, silver birch, crab apple and holly.

Whilst camping here some of the wildlife that have been seen and heard here were fox, owl, badger, pheasant, woodpecker, buzzard, deer and red kite. Bucknell Hill is a Shropshire Wildlife Trust local wildlife site, and they have recorded the species found.

Historically Bucknell Wood was part of a much larger estate that was owned and managed by B & J Davies, a company founded in the late 1800s which played a large role in the British timber industry .

Nearby is the village of Bucknell. Approximately 5 miles away there is the market town of Knighton which is renowned for its connection to Offa's Dyke

The purchasers of the meadow will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
