Throughout earlier centuries much of the land around this area was managed for the benefit of wealthy estate owners. During this period there was considerable planting of woodland on country estates to enhance the sporting appeal. In more recent times this has resulted in an interesting mix of conifer planting with more mature oak, beech and and chestnut dispersed throughout. This delightfully diverse woodland serves as a reminder of the passing of a bygone social era and the timeless beauty of an English woodland. The name Noyces Copse is the historic name, shown on old maps for this area that was part of the larger woodland known as Greenwood.
The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
Noyces Copse is beautifully secluded: located at the end of a long well-made track and set amongst other private woodland near open countryside. As such it is a habitat that is seldom disturbed; where fallow, roe and muntjac deer can browse untroubled and where the opportunity exists to become immersed in the sounds of the woods and the timelessness of nature.
The woodland boundary is marked in part by the historic tracks, ditches and banks which were an early agricultural method for enclosing grazing land for livestock and raising the levels in poorly drained low lying areas. These have survived for centuries and are still readily identifiable throughout this wooded area. The earthworks predate the wood and have survived beneath the shelter of trees within woodland that is unmolested by modern agricultural practices. This effective drainage treatment has created seasonal streams at various parts of the wood which in turn provides a hospitable environment for a range of woodland plants, insects and small mammals. There is also the more recent addition of a post and wire fence along parts of the boundary that clearly define the extent of Noyces Copse.

The woodland is very private and secluded and there are no public rights of way passing by or through Noyces Copse.
Local area and history
In spite of its peaceful location, Noyces Copse is easy to reach and well connected to the road network and a host of natural and man made attractions in and around the South Coast. Portsmouth and Southampton boast a rich maritime history and nearby Winchester is a cultural and historic centre of The Church and State.
Blue coloured indicative boundary markings are on trees running along the boundary at the edge of a woodland track to the north and south. To the east the boundary is along open fields and an established bank and drainage channel.

Leave the M27 at junction 7 and take the first exit from the roundabout into Charles Watts Way and then left at the next roundabout into Tolbar Way. Follow the road straight over a series of roundabouts through the retail park. Continue for a couple of miles, passing a car sales forecourt and Durley Primary School. The road then bears to the left and after a further 500 metres the turning into the woods is on your left where there is a locked gate.

Follow the woodland track straight on for approx 500 metres until taking a turning right. Continue along the track for 500 metres and you will see the blue coloured boundary markings and name sign for Noyces Copse on your right as the track bends left.
