Community Woodlands Projects

One of our main aims at Woodlands.co.uk is to get more people into woodlands, including those people and groups who can't afford to buy their own wood. For the last 2 years we have been running a community woodlands project and in that space of time we have had more than 500 requests from people who wish to use woodlands for activities involving the local community. We now have people who use our woods for children's groups, scouts, forest schools, social forestry, bushcraft courses, woodlands management demonstrations, off-road horse riding organisations, orienteering and coppicing.

As we have received such a large number of enquiries, we have decided to set up a forum to put community groups in touch with other woodland owners who would be interested in allowing their woodland to be used in this way.

Are you a woodland owner?

Below are some of the projects requiring woodland. You may also wish to read our advice on hosting a project in your woodland.

Evenwood and County Durham Area

Hi I'm trying to find a small wood where I could go and practice my hobby of bush craft. At the moment I'm on my own but if it was possible I would like to meet up with other people who are interested in doing the same. I believe in not causing any damage to the environment and my main interest is to be out in the woods to enjoy watching the local wildlife. It would be very nice if I could possibly meet a wood owner to chat about the possibility of using the wood. Or if there are any other groups around with the same interest it would be very nice to be able to get in touch. Hoping to hear from somebody soon Graham More details

hurst, wokingham, berkshire area

Hi My 8 year old daughter would love to have a bushcraft birthday party near our house in hurst (near reading). IT would be for 8 kids and 6 adults. We simply require permission to access someones woodland, made some dens, make a small (responsible) fire to cook sausages over, and generally have a fun woodland afternoon. We are happy to pay, make donation etc ... the event needs to be on 26th November, so if anyone can help or advise it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Joe More details
