SOLD: North Chase £55,000 Freehold

Description

A private and secluded broad leaf woodland with excellent access, situated in picturesque Shropshire countryside. After the main gate, before you get to a woodland known as Badger Clump, there is a long avenue called 'The Chase'.

From the end of the Chase a track then leads into the woodland to an extensive level area with mature well-spaced beech trees. The ground in this area in the winter months is covered with a coppery golden colour from the beech tree leaves and then gives way to a carpet of bluebells in the spring. Other tree species that can be found here include oak, holly, sweet chestnut, hazel, sycamore and the occasional Scots pine.

Towards the southern area of the larger wood (of which North Chase is a part) there is a ravine that travels from east to west, where there are great views of the surrounding woodland and farmland. A short distance from here there is the southern boundary which is formed by a line of mature beech trees.

The western boundary of the track around the wood is lined with mature beech trees that grow over the track creating a lovely arch effect.

The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.

Trees

In recent years the large conifer trees that formed an archway were removed and in their place new broadleaf trees which include oak, silver birch, ash, hazel, and wild cherry have been planted. In years to come when the trees have matured there will be a very diverse and wildlife-rich avenue and archway once again, leading to Badger Clump.

The Wood is young but growing rapidly, and it should respond well to thinning, in order to allow room for future growth.

Wildlife

Some of the wildlife that can be seen and heard here include badger, pheasant, raven, owl, fox, and buzzard.

Features

A fabulous location within the heart of the Shropshire countryside.

An investment opportunity for a gateway piece of land.

A chance to make a huge impact on an as yet under developed piece of woodland. Compare with the southern side of The Chase for its mature trees. In time this could be equally impressive.

Planting done; just the thinning and enjoyment to develop this wood's potential.

Access, tracks and footpaths

The access to North Chase is flat, and suitable for an ordinary car. The track that runs past the wood is a public bridleway.

Activities

Local area and history

The bridleway nearby provides a fantastic walk along the River Worfe to Beckbury, where the local Seven Stars pub will be found. The bridleway is part of an old track from Badger Hall, as shown on an 1837 map of the Hall and surrounding area.

The village of Badger is nearby where there is a dingle with some large pools that are open to the public and a temple built in the 1700s.

Telford and Bridgnorth are nearby for local amenities.
