@LivingHistorySchool ha ha, but bird mites won't live on humans. I used to butcher chickens and got the mites many times. They all fall off in a few hours.

I apologize for nitpicking the description, but the bird in the video is not a magpie. I believe it is a starling or one of the subspecies of blackbird.

I've just recently thought about collecting roadkill.
Then I found your videos, and I Thank You so much for them. It is such a wonderful thing that you're doing. I was scared about looking into it if I'm honest, but you've made it feel very real, and very grounded, and very spiritual. You've opened my eyes to a different view on it.

Amazing. Took the words out of my mouth.. I have been doing taxidermy the old fashioned way for years (since I was 14 ). And explaining my love of animals and the craft to unsure people for years… the old way is no pre made forms for body or head.. just hand making forms out of excelsior (basically natural dried grass like they puts in easter baskets based on the body, and the skulls of the bird I'm forming)
.. I tried the new way.. and they just don't look as amazing as they do when done the old way. I also use every bit left over for jewelry and what not.. and I also clean up local roadkill.. I've hotter some absolutely stunning skulls, bones, feet and tails (and everything else) in that manner.

Thanks for this video. You are so down to earth and just lovely. It's nice to know there are others who are intrested in what I am.. and that there are others who know that to love taxidermy, doesn't mean you don't love or respect animals as well. It makes me so mad when people think taxidermists don't respect animals.. in fact I've rescued and rehabilitated almost every native species to my area (opossums are my favorite..so cute).. and I even feed my neighborhood crows everyday when scraps are hard to come by and it gets cold.. lol they scream until I come outside.. then make clacking noises with their beaks when they know I finally notice them and get their grapes and random meat of the day.
